Three separate leakers dropped new evidence this week. The iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island appears to be getting significantly smaller. Here is what the leaked images actually show.

The iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island Leak That Landed This Week

This is not a single source rumor. Three different leakers released new material in the last four days, and they are all pointing at the same design change.

Leaks about the iPhone 18 Pro appeared online showing that the Dynamic Island has shrunk by 35% compared to previous models. There has been some disagreement among sources, but most of the evidence now appears to support the change.

I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, we read through every piece of sourced evidence before covering a rumor. Here is what the credible material actually says, and what still needs to be confirmed before September.

What the Leaked Screen Protectors Show

The leaked images show a screen protector with a significantly smaller punch-hole. The width of the Dynamic Island is to be reduced from 20.76 millimetres to 13.49 millimetres, which would make it a third smaller.

The leaker known as Ice Universe, who has a decent track record for Apple leaks, shared an image of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro screen protector showing dramatically smaller cutouts compared to the current design.

The fact that these accessories are starting to be produced suggests that manufacturers have a high level of confidence that the upcoming device will feature a smaller Dynamic Island.

When third-party accessory makers start cutting screen protectors for a specific design, that is not just a rumor anymore. It means supply chain partners are confident enough in the design specifications to begin production.

The Technical Explanation Behind the Shrink

With a flashlight shining on the display’s corner, a small circular punch hole is visible beneath the screen, strongly suggesting that Apple is moving the Face ID sensor under the display.

Moving any Face ID component beneath an OLED display is not a cosmetic change. It is a genuine optical engineering problem, and Apple has been working through it in patent filings for years.

Leaker Majin Bu pointed out that the infrared sensor has shifted into the top-left corner of the display. This refers to a circle that appears to be under the display in that corner. This would be a plausible way for Apple to make the Dynamic Island smaller, since the emitter is more easily placed under the display.

Which Models Are Getting the Smaller Island

Ice Universe previously reported that the smaller Dynamic Island would be adopted across the full iPhone 18 lineup, not just the Pro models, while bezels on next-generation devices will apparently remain identical to those on the iPhone 17 series.

However, there is a split in the leak community on this specific point. Some leakers say this year’s Pro series will feature a smaller island on the front of the screen, but the standard iPhone 18 remains unchanged, retaining its current design.

The most conservative and most likely read is that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max get the smaller Dynamic Island first, while the standard iPhone 18 keeps the current pill shape and rolls over the change in the 2027 cycle.

What Has Not Been Confirmed and Why That Matters

The preponderance of evidence favors a smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro. It is not confirmed.

The exact same smaller-Dynamic-Island prediction circulated ahead of the iPhone 17 Pro and did not materialize. The iPhone 17 Pro launched with an unchanged cutout.

This is the honest reason to stay cautious. The same rumor ran last year and Apple shipped unchanged hardware. The difference this time is the volume and specificity of the leaks. Screen protector dimensions, prototype images, and multiple independent sources all aligning on a 35% reduction is a much stronger signal than anything that circulated before the iPhone 17 Pro launch.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro models alongside its first foldable iPhone this fall. That is when we will find out definitively.

Source Credibility Rating for This Rumor

SourceTrack RecordClaim
Ice UniverseSolid for Apple hardware35% smaller Dynamic Island across all iPhone 18
Majin BuOccasionally accurate35% reduction confirmed, infrared sensor moved to corner
Early Apple LeaksNew account, unverifiedPrototype image showing smaller cutout
Digital Chat StationCredible supply chain sourceCast doubt on the change using same mold data

The weight of evidence leans toward the change happening. One dissenting supply chain source and one historical false positive are the main reasons to stop short of calling it confirmed.
